6 Helpful Tips for Fast and Healthy Weight Loss

Weight loss doesn’t have to be a long, arduous process. In fact, it doesn’t have to be hard, and it doesn’t have to take very long. If you are serious about losing weight in a healthy and quick way, you need to understand that having the right mindset and managing your expectations is key. Being consistent and honest with yourself is extremely important if you want to succeed.

Weight loss will not happen overnight, it just won’t. It took you sometime time to gain weight, and it’s going to take a little time for you to take it off. This is where being honest with yourself comes into play. All goals are achievable if they are realistic goals. If it took you months to gain a certain amount of weight, you shouldn’t expect to lose that same amount of weight in just days, it’s just not going to happen. Setting realistic and achievable goals is crucial when it comes to weight loss. Accept that there are no magic pills or over-the-counter potions that will help you lose weight. It’s going to take a commitment and a little time for you to achieve the results that you want.

Every day isn’t going to be a blue-ribbon day, so try not to be too hard on yourself on the days that you backslide, it happens to the best of us. Just pick yourself up and try to do better the next day. You’re human, and some days are just going to be better than others. What is important is that you get back up on the horse and don’t give up. Just remember that every day that you stand firm will bring you closer to your goal of a slimmer, and healthier you.

1. Manage your expectations:

Set realistic goals. Be honest with yourself. What is your weight now, and how much weight are you looking to shed? You shouldn’t expect to lose 30 pounds in two weeks if it took you six months to gain the weight. It’s just not realistic. Having realistic and achievable goals are crucial to your success. Age and health are also determining factors that need to be considered when setting your weight loss goals and timeline.

2. Keep a food log:

Logging what you eat can be a surprisingly effective way to avoid eating things you know you shouldn’t be eating. It sounds silly, and like it could be a hassle but it’s not. The purpose of the food log is to make you think before you eat, and should help you make healthier food selections.

3.  Avoid process foods:

Knowing how to navigate within the grocery store can help cut down on the temptation of wanting to make unhealthy food selections. Most grocery stores are set up with the healthier foods, fruits, vegetables, fresh meats, fish, eggs, and milk on the outer ring. You can buy all the food you need without ever having to venture down the process food aisles.

4. Cut out the soft drinks:

Replacing soft drinks with water or other sugar- free drinks will carry you a long way down the path toward losing weight. You will be amazed at how fast and easy pounds will fall off simply by avoiding sugar.

5. Eat more to lose more:

Replace the three big meals with several smaller meals. If possible, make breakfast the largest meal of the day. This way when lunch rolls around you’re not as hungry and you’ll not binge on fatty unhealthy snacks. Eating smaller meals more often will keep you from getting hungry and it helps boost the metabolism so the body burns more fat and you lose more weight.

6. Exercise:

You must get moving. If you want to lose weight you must exercise. It doesn’t have to be anything major, but you will need to have some form of exercise; walking, bike riding, etc. If you want to lose weight you must find a way to get moving for at least 20 to 30 minutes a day. You can do it without even realizing it, parking farther away from the office door at work or taking the stairs are all good ways to increase your cardio output.

Avoiding processed food is my struggle. I work from home and barely have time for meal because I take care of my niece and do lots of other things. Hopefully this year I’ll be able to focus on weight loss. Thanks for the tips!

I was talking to my doctor about keeping a food journal and how important it is for weight loss. He was in total agreement with me.
